Fundraising Opportunity!

Hopefully you received the email about our new fundraiser! You will love the fact that you don't have to sell anything or buy anything! I started using the new toolbar for my searches and it is pretty easy to use. I have been able to search and click on sponsored results pretty easily each day. Below is the information you will need to help us raise money for travel next year!

Hello Supporters of Bend High DECA
We are so excited to share with you our personally Customized Toolbar. It will serve as a new way to generate revenue. With this Toolbar we will raise much needed funds without you writing a check or selling a product! By using the Yahoo search engine that is conveniently located on our toolbar you are helping us raise dollars for Bend High DECA.

Every parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle and friend can click away and help us. Ask them to download and start helping our chapter raise money without purchasing anything again. Our earning potential is huge!!

Every click helps! Here is the link to the download:

http://www.benefitbar.com/benefitbar/subscribe/toolbar.php?toolbarId=3584

It is simple to perform your normal, natural, everyday searches and only click on a sponsored result if that sponsor is of interest to you. It’s that EASY!

What are you waiting for? Click on the link above to download our Toolbar.

If every DECA member (97 current members) used our Toolbar for five searches each day, we would have the potential to bring in over $1,000 each month! This would result in savings for each student for competitive travel and other DECA opportunities!

Instructions - Important to read:

Every time you click on a sponsored result (anything listed in the shaded area with bullet points or anything listed on the right side of the page) you are raising money, 10 cents a click, for Bend High DECA…..NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.

Water Wars and BBQ

On Saturday, September 19 the chapter held their first annual Water War and BBQ. There was a great turnout!! Over 30 Marketing 1 and 2 students showed for a day of fun! The weather was not the best and clouds were rolling in, but everyone had the DECA spirit and was willing to give it a go!

We set up a huge slip and slide on the football practice field hill and played a game of capture the flag with water ballons and squirt guns! It was a blast!

After all the water fun the parents came for a BBQ. This was one of the best turnouts that we have had in years for our parent meeting. The Officer Team gave an informatioinal speech about DECA and all it offers.  We had burgers that Steve York and Ron Lusk prepared - way to go grill masters! It was a fun day and a big thank you goes out to everyone who helped cook, brought food and showed up to support Bend High DECA!

09-10 OT Retreat

This past weekend we headed out to Camp Sherman for our annual OT Retreat. We spent the weekend planning our Program of Work for next year. It was a great time for team bonding and a little fun mixed in. This year's team is full of great ideas and excited to get started this upcoming year!

Our established goals for the 09-10 school year are:
  1. Chapter involvement & unity
  2. Fundraising
  3. Competition preparation
  4. Community involvement

There were a ton of ideas and great discussions about what we should include. The team did a great job focusing in on each area and coming up with projects and activities that will help them meet their goals.

Last Apprentice Challenge: Humane Society Thrift Store Fashion Show

Wow, that was a long title! For the final challenge the marketing 2 students worked with the local Humane Society Thrift Store to hold a fashion show at lunch. It was a very fun project with three very distinct groups representing their individual fashion:
  1. 80's Prom (The girls)
  2. Elderly Fashion (The boys)
  3. Mix & Not Match (C block)

All the clothes for the show were from the thrift store, so we had a real mix of fun and funky fashion! The show was held during lunch in the commons and the students selected the winning team by donating their change. The music was good and the students really enjoyed the lunch time entertainment.
In the end, the 80's Prom raised $22+ for the Humane Society. We did not raise a lot of money, but the $31 we did raise will help the shelter. The apprentice challenges were fun this year and I am glad that we had the opportunity to have some fun competition in class!
