09-10 OT Retreat

This past weekend we headed out to Camp Sherman for our annual OT Retreat. We spent the weekend planning our Program of Work for next year. It was a great time for team bonding and a little fun mixed in. This year's team is full of great ideas and excited to get started this upcoming year!

Our established goals for the 09-10 school year are:
  1. Chapter involvement & unity
  2. Fundraising
  3. Competition preparation
  4. Community involvement

There were a ton of ideas and great discussions about what we should include. The team did a great job focusing in on each area and coming up with projects and activities that will help them meet their goals.

Last Apprentice Challenge: Humane Society Thrift Store Fashion Show

Wow, that was a long title! For the final challenge the marketing 2 students worked with the local Humane Society Thrift Store to hold a fashion show at lunch. It was a very fun project with three very distinct groups representing their individual fashion:
  1. 80's Prom (The girls)
  2. Elderly Fashion (The boys)
  3. Mix & Not Match (C block)

All the clothes for the show were from the thrift store, so we had a real mix of fun and funky fashion! The show was held during lunch in the commons and the students selected the winning team by donating their change. The music was good and the students really enjoyed the lunch time entertainment.
In the end, the 80's Prom raised $22+ for the Humane Society. We did not raise a lot of money, but the $31 we did raise will help the shelter. The apprentice challenges were fun this year and I am glad that we had the opportunity to have some fun competition in class!
